Alpena, MI 49707

The Alpena Figure Skating Club is a nonprofit organization promoting the sport of figure skating. Its existence can be traced back to the 1930’s. The club encourages the instruction, practice, and advancement of our members in free style, moves in the field, and dance. We also have basic skill classes that are the building blocks for figure skating. Come and watch the spinning and jumping talents of our skaters and see if you’re interested in becoming a member of the Alpena Figure Skating Club. Our club has group lessons for skaters of all levels on Monday 6:00 – 9:50 and Thursday from 6:00 – 9:50 September to March. Our membership includes toddlers to adults.

AFSC is affiliated with the U.S. Figure Skating Association, which is the national governing body of eligible figure skating in the United States. The USFS sets the standards and rules under which all member clubs operate.

From our By-laws:

The purpose of the club is to promote and advance the skaters in all types of amateur figure skating; to promote friendship and good fellowship among  club skaters and members, and to foster the interest of the community therein, and to be aware of the community therein, and to carry out the general policies of the U.S. Figure Skating Association.

The government of the club shall be vested in an executive committee consisting of a president, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and Treasurer, and a Board of Governors consisting of the Executive Committee and 10 additional members of the Club and the last years president if applicable.
